EPL is looking for a Staff Scientist with expertise in molecular pathology and cell biology. As a Staff Scientist, you will join a work environment that encourages teamwork, quality, and offers opportunities for professional growth. The incumbent for this position will provide on-site research support to the Molecular Pathology Laboratory, Comparative and Molecular Pathogenesis Branch, Division of Translational Toxicology at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (DTT/NIEHS). This position supports research efforts to understand translational relevance and mechanisms of chemical carcinogenesis using rodent models as well as in vitro systems such as organoids and cell cultures. There will be numerous opportunities to pursue independent and collaborative multidisciplinary research utilizing pathology, multi-omics approaches and molecular biology tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide cell culture expertise especially related to 3D organoids and air-liquid interface cultures
  • Contribute to project planning, experimental design, data generation, interpretation, and reporting of study data
  • Prepare manuscripts and present at national and international conferences
  • Mentor visiting scientists and trainees including summer students, postbaccalaureate and postdoctoral fellow

Requirements:

  • MS or PhD degree in biology or related disciplines with expertise in cell culture and a strong background in molecular biology and cancer biology
  • BS in biology or related disciplines with extensive experience in cell culture and organoids will also be considered
  • 3-5 years of cell culture experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work independently and as a member of a research team
