EPL Announces New Chief Operating Officer and Chief Scientific Officer

EPL is pleased to announce that Dr. Kathleen Funk has been named EPL’s Chief Operating Officer and Dr. Jeffrey Wolf has been named EPL’s Chief Scientific Officer, effective June 1, 2014.

Dr. Funk is a graduate of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine and also holds a PhD in Comparative Pathology from the University of California at Davis.  She was certified by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in 1992; Dr. Funk joined EPL in 1998. Her area of expertise includes the evaluation of tissue reaction to biomedical devices, especially cardiovascular devices such as stents and grafts, in a variety of species.

“EPL’s mission has always been to provide excellent histology and pathology services, and as Chief Operating Officer, I will continue to follow the able guidance of our CEO and EPL’s Board of Directors in order to maintain smooth, efficient operations and further build positive relationships with our customers. Operations will work closely with our CSO, Dr Jeff Wolf, and other team members to identify potential strategies to expand EPL’s capabilities to better meet our customers’ needs while maintaining a strong operating core.” – Dr. Kathleen Funk

Dr. Wolf is a graduate of Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.  He received his anatomic pathology training during residencies at the University of Florida and Virginia Tech.  He was certified by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in 1997; Dr. Wolf joined EPL in 2000.  His areas of expertise are toxicologic pathology of aquatic animals, alternative animal models, endocrine disruption studies that utilize various species of fish and frogs, image analysis, and stereology.
