Neuropathology

Neuropathology protocols demand specialized training, a high degree of technical competence and years of experience, all of which EPL’s staff of neuropathologists, histotechnologists and necropsy personnel routinely provide. From whole body perfusion to expert dissection of peripheral nerves and ganglia to morphometric analysis of specific brain regions, our neuropathology team is ready to partner with clients to satisfy the challenging scientific and regulatory requirements of the nervous system.

  • Whole body perfusion
  • Sensitive handling of central and peripheral nervous system tissues
  • Glycol methacrylate (GMA) embedding
  • Dissection of peripheral nerves, nerve roots and ganglia
  • Special stains, including:
    • Fluoro-jade for neuronal necrosis
    • Bielschowsky for neuronal processes
    • Luxol fast blue
    • Cresyl violet (Nissl)
    • Toluidine blue
    • GFAP and other immunohistochemical stains
  • Developmental neuropathology
  • Morphometric analysis
  • Teased nerve fiber preparations
  • Experience with multiple species
