Bio-Repository and Storage

EPL has more than 20 years of experience meeting the storage requirements of the biotech research community including governmental agencies, pharmaceutical companies, contract research organizations, and academia. EPL provides GLP-compliant storage solutions for pre-clinical and clinical research specimens at our Research Triangle Park, NC facility.

EPL provides a secure environment equipped with emergency power and cooling systems, back-up freezers, and an environmental monitoring system; all of which serve to assure sample integrity. EPL can provide short- and long-term storage suited to the unique nature of your organization’s biomaterials including:

  • Room temperature (20°C to 25°C)
  • Refrigerated (2°C to 8°C)
  • Ultra-Low (-20°C to -80°C)
  • Liquid Nitrogen / Vapor Phase (-150°C to -190°C)

EPL will coordinate the transport of materials between your site and the EPL BioRepository or relocate your existing freezers to the EPL BioRepository, allowing your organization to optimize its use of available space. EPL will conduct semi-annual routine preventative maintenance on your freezers while stored at the EPL BioRepository.

Dr. Melvin H. Hamlin, II, Vice President of Operations at EPL, has extensive experience managing and operating facilities designed for the long-term storage of biological materials and research samples. Ms. Leslie Couch serves as the Archivist for EPL’s BioRepository, and she is joined on staff by Ms. Siobhan Merritt; together, they have more than 10 years of experience with the handling, tracking, and shipping of biological samples.
