EPL is pleased to announce the promotion of Dr. Kathleen Funk to President of EPL on June 1, 2016. Dr. Funk has served as the Chief Operating Officer since 2014. Dr. Funk is a graduate of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine and also holds a PhD in Comparative Pathology from the University of California at Davis. She was certified by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in 1992 and joined EPL in 1998. Her areas of expertise include the evaluation of tissue reaction to biomedical devices, especially cardiovascular devices such as stents and grafts, in a variety of species, the pathology of nonhuman primates, and pathology peer review.
“EPL’s mission has always been to provide excellent histology and pathology services, and as President, I will continue to follow the able guidance of our CEO and EPL’s Board of Directors in order to maintain our unique capabilities and further build positive relationships with our customers. As President, I will work closely with our CSO, Dr Jeff Wolf, and other team members to identify potential strategies to expand EPL’s capabilities to better meet our customers’ needs while maintaining a strong, smoothly functioning, efficient organization.” – Dr. Kathleen Funk
